Description of the Criminal Section
Uniform Law Conference of Canada - Description of the Criminal Section
The Criminal Section assembles government lawyers, Crown prosecutors,
private lawyers, academia and members of the judiciary to consider issues
regarding the implementation and reform of the Criminal Code and related
statutes. This forum also provides provincial, territorial and federal
governments an opportunity to consult with the Section members on draft
policy positions contained in submitted discussion papers. Each year, the
Section typically considers and recommends forty to fifty criminal law
reform proposals and also considers several discussion papers. On occasion,
discussion papers are considered jointly with the Civil Section.
